2023 Corvette Parts
Corvettes have always stayed true to their mission of having freedom behind the wheel. All subsequent generations have included drop-top options, beginning with the original generation's sole convertible model. The C8's mid-mounted engine is typical of all modern sports cars.
However, the C8 Corvette convertible is just slightly more open than the targa with its carbon-fiber roof panel removed, rather than providing the full top-down experience of prior Corvette convertibles. The permanent roof panel that normally spans the C-pillars is absent in the convertible's design, which is the primary distinction between the two body styles. The convertible's C-pillars are transformed into flying buttresses in place of the sloping backlight that normally provides a glimpse of the LT2 engine. The technique involves detaching the engine cover from the trunk cover.
This would be the first Corvette to feature a retractable hardtop and this model's convertible version is just as weather- and noise-proof (73 decibels at 70 miles per hour) as the coupe's fixed roof counterpart. Due to its simple push-button controls, driving the convertible is a breeze, even for short distances. And because it can be operated at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, you won't have to worry about having to wait for the light to change if you have to raise or lower the top in the middle of the cycle.
While the C8 convertible has its own set of suspension settings, one thing that hasn't changed is the car's excellent blend of refinement and performance. It's a top-notch cruiser with the top up or down and a relaxed pace on quiet back roads with a smooth ride and moderate engine noise. The changes in the twin-clutch transmission are so seamless that you will only be aware of them if you pay close attention to the engine sound or the tachometer.
