2008 Corvette Parts
The 2008 Corvette advances further thanks to the addition of the LS3 engine in the base models. Chevrolet engineers improved on the already outstanding LS2 engine by modifying the cylinder heads to allow for smoother airflow on the intake and exhaust runners and valves. This adjustment, combined with a new intake manifold, gave 30 HP and 24 ft/lbs of torque, for a total of 430 HP and 424 ft/lbs of torque. As if that weren't enough already, a new exhaust system, comparable to the exhaust found on Z06 Corvettes, was offered on 2008 Corvettes. By slightly restricting flow while the throttle is held at low or steady speeds, this system keeps the exhaust silent when the engine is not being fully utilized.
At peak usage, the 2008 Corvette responded to the increased loads by prompting the vacuum actuator to open a flap, allowing an additional 6 HP and 4 ft./lbs of torque to be tapped.
On-Star, XM radio, and automatic dimming rearview mirrors with compass are noteworthy additions to the Corvette base model. Le Mans Blue Metallic and Monterey Red Metallic Tintcoat were replaced by Jetstream Blue Metallic Tintcoat and Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat, respectively. The redesigned split 5-spoke rims and other metal finish items on the door sills are new for this year. However, the Corvette's exterior still has its timeless charm and lines.
