1980 Corvette Parts
One of the unique features of the 1980 Corvette is the restriction that was put on California buyers. For the first time since 1974, two engine displacements were available in Corvettes – but they weren’t optional.Due to the increased California emission restrictions, Chevrolet did not certify its 350 cubic-inch engines for sale in that state during 1980. Since California car buyers were required to downgrade and purchase the 305ci engine, they were gifted a $50 credit.
In previous years, Corvettes steadily increased in weight. In 1980, the Corvette was lighter. Engineers lowered the weight by using lower density roof panels, reducing the thickness of the hood and outer doors, and using aluminum for the housing and crossmember.
