1972 Corvette Parts
Once again, there were almost no changes to the 1972 Corvette from the previous year. The most notable changes were the options that were no longer available for purchase, including the elimination of the aluminum-headed LS-6 and ZR-2 package. The 1972 Corvette engines also suffered a loss in power due to expanding mandates on emissions. It caused GM to realign their engine program in the new SAE “net” measure, which resulted in lower, yet more realistic ratings.
Although there weren’t many changes or additions, 1972 was a year that Corvette experienced many “lasts.” For example, this would be the last model year to feature front and rear chrome bumpers, side fender grills, an egg-crate grill, and a removable rear window. For those reasons, the 1972 Corvette is looked back on with historic pride and significance.
