1966 Corvette Parts
The L78-engine Stingray brought incredible success to Chevrolet. So, in 1966, they kept expanding on it. The 1966 Corvette is known for introducing the powerhouse 427-cubic-inch big-block engine.Originally listed at 450 HP in Chevrolet literature, numbers for the solid lifter beast were revised to 425 after introduction. This was solely an administrative decision, as no changes to the engine were made. Even so, the 1966 packed a punch — increasing torque by about 55 lbs./ft.
Other notable additions included backup lights and Holley carburetors (previously available only on certain models. Both were made standard.
At first, the 427 engine came with some ordering limitations, as it needed to be ordered in addition to various other options. However, it captured the interest of many Corvette enthusiasts and got them excited for the 427 to become more accessible in Corvette model years to come.
