1958 Corvette Parts
The 1958 Corvette underwent an extensive redesign, which resulted in it being about 200 pounds heavier than the previous year’s model. With new body panels, new upholstery, a new instrument panel, and more, it offered perhaps the biggest change in appearance for C1 models. Even the paint was switched from enamel to acrylic-lacquer.In terms of mechanical elements, the 1958 Corvette was available with various engine and transmission options. A four-carb V8 engine was standard, but buyers could opt for a dual-carb, dual-carb with special camshaft, fuel-injection, or fuel-injection with special camshaft. They could also upgrade to a four-speed manual transmission or Powerglide automatic.
So, although it was left vulnerable to some performance skepticism, the 1958 Corvette was still loved for its exterior redesign. Buyers still enjoyed the new look and various upgrade options — and they still bought plenty of them to keep Chevrolet running a successful operation.
