1956 Corvette Parts
The 1956 Corvette featured the first major redesign of its original body style. Available for the first time were factory-installed removable hardtops, exposed headlamps, and sculpted side coves.The interior received some desirable upgrades as well, including adjustable passenger seating, roll-up windows, and — most importantly — dealer-installed seatbelts! The majority of 1956 Corvette buyers also enjoyed a 265-cubic-inch, 4.3-liter V8 engine with two four-barrel carbs, and 111 of them spent a couple hundred dollars for a high-lift camshaft.
With each of these upgrades, Corvette fans and skeptics alike were starting to see the real value in what Chevrolet was up to. Even automotive pundit Karl Ludvigsen deemed the 1956 Corvette credible, stating, “Without qualification, General Motors is now building a sports car.”
