1954 Corvette Parts
Chevrolet started production of the 1954 Corvette in their same Flint, Michigan production facility, but struggled to meet demand. By December 1953, they switched locations to a renovated plant in St. Louis, Missouri and were soon turning out more than 50 Corvettes per day — leading them to produce more than ten times as many Corvettes as the previous year. There were very few changes to the 1954 Corvette model, as Chevy’s employees were more focused on streamlined production lines than innovative engineering. Most notably, the straight-six engine got bumped up to 155 HP and a few new color options were introduced: Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red, Black. There was also the option for a Beige interior.
But big breakthroughs still came from those small upgrades. Perhaps it was due to a price drop from $3,498 to $2,774, or perhaps it was due to boosted advertising efforts. Regardless, the 1954 Corvette was a hit and left the American people wanting more.
