Boosting combustion pressure through installing a more aggressive cam profile or a power-adder (blower, turbo, or nitrous) can push factory TTY (Torque To Yield) head bolts beyond their intended loading, causing blown head gaskets. ARP head studs aremanufactured from stronger material (heat treated 8740 rated at 200,000 psi or proprietary ARP 2000 at 220,000 psi) providing extra clamping force. They're hex-broached for easy installation or removal. And they come with hardened, parallel machinedwashers for optimum load distribution.
