Corvette Central's own correct reproduction chrome rear soft top latch on deck lid.
These first design latches with attached mounting studs were used 1956 through mid 1957 production (approx serial #4500). Late productions 1957 use the second design latch CC # 541141 that mounts using phillips head screws.
The 56-62 rear soft-top latches on deck lid can break if not properly latched. General Motors recommended that the rear latch be latched first. The following is from your owner's manual.
Please note:
1. Hook the latches to the windshield header, but leave loose
2. Latch the rear bow to the body
3. Lock the windshield header latches
